Hands Free A Must
I do agree that driving with a cell phone at any age is dangerous. May I say hazardous to your health?
I know that we are all, or should I say most of us, good at multi-tasking. Yet, for some reason or another, a phone attached by a hand to our ear and the other to a steering wheel, we just can't seem to do. I don't care who you are, it can't be done safely.
As I'm driving behind someone doing 35 to 40 miles an hour in a 55 to 60 mile an hour speed limit, chances are that they are on their cell phone.
I do realize that today we all have hectic lives. I remember the pagers. Boy, what a pain in the neck that was, to stop at a phone booth or wait until you got home to make a call.
Then the cell phone came along. Well, we know that people are not going to pull over to make or take a call.
But what I do think is we should make it a law to have hands free. I feel that should be on the top of the list for priorities. It will save a lot of lives.
Talking hands free, is really no different than talking with a passenger in your car. If that's unsafe, then start worrying about our children on the bus. Now talk about a distraction, with all those kids?
So, if you are looking for a Christmas gift for a loved one, get them a Bluetooth. You could be saving their life from a future mishap with a cell phone.

I don't know if it's just my opinion, but I think the dumbest voters in America seem to live in the state of Massachusetts! I'm sure I'll be hearing from people on this one, but that's how I feel.
The reason I feel that way is the people they keep re-electing there.
Did anyone see Rep. Barney Frank's interview over the weekend? He is still making disparaging remarks about President Bush, and still blaming him for the economic mess we are in. I wish someone would sit Rep. Frank down and force him to watch videotapes of himself saying several years ago that Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae were not in trouble. Rep. Frank is one of the main reasons we had a meltdown in our real estate market, yet he can't keep his mouth shut about it. You would think he would keep a low profile on this matter.
Then, we come to Sen. Ted Kennedy. I won't even attempt to write anything on this subject, the editor would never be able to print what I have to say about him. Suffice it to say that Kennedy, instead of being one of the longest serving senators, should be getting out of prison just about now.
I'm sure all those transplanted people from Massachusetts are writing their e-mails to Hernando Today right about now. Bring it on!

Fresh Air Thursdays
Thanks to the Hernando Today for publishing columns by Frances Earl and Ted Rall. As a result, from now on Thursdays will be known as Fresh Air Thursday. It has been a welcome relief.
I have been here the whole time. I know who to blame.
