Nazdar,

There will be a musical presentation at 11 a.m. today during service at the First Baptist Church of Masaryktown on Kollar Street and Roosevelt Avenue. The Gulf Ridge Quartet Singers will be singing several Southern Gospel selections. On Sunday, Dec. 21, the church will present its annual Christmas Cantata at the 11 a.m. service. This year's selection is "Jesus, There's Something About That Name." Pastor Bob Gant thanks all who donated, helped and came to last weekend's estate sale.

Thank yous from the Friends From Camper's Holiday - more than 35 boxes were sent to our troops this month. They thank the residents for their donations and help packing the boxes. Special thanks to Lea's Prayers & Postage for sending these packages to Iraq and Afghanistan.

Greatly appreciated are the donations from the Bellamy Brothers Partners for CDs for the troops, the Girl Scout Spring Mermaids Troop No. 521 for the cookies and candy they collected, Mary's Amazing Florida Blends Spritzers, Sherill Simms for making 25 pounds of fudge, Linda's Hair Loft for items collected, VFW Post 8681 for a really big bag of candy and biggest thank yous to Donna "Panda" Mikronis who puts this all together.

Last Saturday's Christmas dinner at the Sylvan Grove Community Center was a success. This was accomplished through the hard efforts of everyone involved, especially chairladies Gladys Badowski and Susan Compton. This dinner was for area children and their families; more than 170 folks enjoyed eight 20-pound turkey dinners, with all the trimmings, 70 children received five toys each, clothes; and the families took home a big box of assorted groceries, hygiene related items, etc. Phil Rafferty was the disc jockey, and Morgin Ciarcia sang Christmas songs. Special thanks to Frankie Buford, manager of Winn-Dixie, Golden Corral, Long John Silvers; and also big thanks to the Sylvan Grove residents and the Masaryktown Activities Club for the donated gifts, food, and all the hard volunteer work.
Holy Trinity Lutheran Church sends big thanks to all who came for the breakfast and bake sale last Sunday which was a fundraiser for the Ministry Food Pantry.

The Fine Arts Council celebrated a Winter Gala at Rogers' Christmas House last Saturday. The garden was decorated beautifully for Christmas, and chamber music permeated the air. Hors d'oeuvres and refreshments were served to over 200 guests attending. New owner George Rodriguez thanks all for attending and invited the public to stop by and see all of the new merchandise and the new animated Santa Claus to greet you. For details, call 796-2415.

At Harmony House Family Restaurant yesterday there was a celebration for son Daniel Mandreanu's birthday and a six-month remembrance of Mariana Mandreanu's father's passing. More than 20 family members and friends attended. Owners Pete and Mariana extend the best holiday wishes and are accepting Christmas dinner reservations now, just call 848-0828.

Please make a note that the Masaryktown Post Office has a new telephone number, 352-345-4852.

Sympathies are extended to the Duncan family on the death of 85-year-old Altie Duncan, Dec. 6 - 21 years to the date of her late hubby. A longtime resident, she leaves four children, John, Gloria, Johnny and Mary, eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Services were held at Masaryktown Baptist Church, with Pastor Bob Gant officiating.
