Report: Child Porn Found In Sex Offender's Home

RIDGE MANOR - A registered sex offender was arrested Wednesday after authorities say they found child pornography in his home.

Federal probation officers were searching James McAndrew's home, 34811 Hibiscus Drive, when they reportedly uncovered several compact discs in his bedroom closet. On the label were the words "Internet photos No. 1" and a partially clothed young female in heavy makeup, an arrest affidavit states.

A quick look at the CDs contents revealed child pornography, according to the affidavit. McAndrew, 54, who was on probation for a federal conviction of possession of child pornography in 2003, was arrested on that same charge in Hernando County.

Woman Accused Of Stealing $19,700 From Disabled Adult

SPRING HILL - A Spring Hill woman is accused of stealing $19,700 from a disabled woman who needs daily care.

The suspect, Malia Becker, 59, of 4340 Tartan Ave., assumed care of the patient after the victim's mother died in 2002. An investigator determined that Becker has been using her position to steal from the victim's bank account since 2004.

Becker told the detective that it was a loan, but could not say exactly how much was owed and had no documentation to prove she intended to pay the funds back, an arrest affidavit states. She is charged with exploitation of a disabled adult.

Arrest Made In Suspected 'Chop Shop' Operation

BROOKSVILLE - Deputies made one arrest Thursday in connection with a suspected "chop shop."

A motorcycle engine was discovered in a shed at 10185 Nicholas Ave. and it was matched to a motorcycle that was reported stolen from Pasco County on Nov. 25, an arrest affidavit states. In the back bedroom of the house were two other reportedly stolen motorcycles and the suspect, James Kerns, 35.

Kerns was arrested on a charge of grand theft and operating a chop shop.
