Nazdar,
Time is getting close to "Tis the season to be jolly," and so the mood will be jolly from 2 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 21 at the Masaryktown Community Center on Lincoln Avenue.
It will be the annual Children's Christmas Party for all area children. There will be games, refreshments, goodie bags and other fun stuff. Bring your cameras and camcorders since Santa will be there for picture taking. The event is sponsored by the Masaryktown Activities Committee and the community. For questions or more information, call Mona at 352-397-3351.
Speaking of giving - it's the season for volunteering, and volunteers are always needed at our Masaryktown bingo games. Our games are going great, but help is always needed. The more the merrier to help out the cause. It's your town, so get involved - even if it's one, two or three nights a week/month, it will relieve someone else for a night or two. Jump in and get involved. It's really fun to play and quite rewarding to volunteer.
Last Tuesday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church the Food Pantry served 102 needy families! That's wonderful. However, the number of needy families increases monthly. Any kind of help that you can give would be greatly appreciated. They will accept food donations or money to purchase foods and goods.
The church still provides two Al-Anon meetings in the Ministry Center, meaning anyone can attend - Mondays the group meets at 7 p.m. and studies the Big Book. On Tuesday, they meet at 7 p.m. also and hold open discussions and sharing. For any details about the group that they are starting for Al-Anon and families of alcoholics, call 796-4066.
Loretta Buchan has returned from LeSeur, Minn., along with son and daughter-in-law, Don and Sharon Buchan, who drove down to Naples to visit with Loretta's granddaughter and great-granddaughter La Trease Bryne and Miranda Bryne. All enjoyed a nice Thanksgiving visit.
Last Saturday, Joy Weld had a pleasant visit from her two grandsons, Billy Ray Lawson and Jimmy Lee Lawson of Arcadia and Myaka. They were passing through after returning from Georgia where they and their dad, Alan Lawson of Dunnellon, were deer hunting over the Thanksgiving holiday. Everyone had a grand visit!
Over the hills and through the woods to grandmother's house they came, so to speak. From rural Floral City were Candy and her hubby Jesse Brooks and children, 6-year-old Ian and 9-year-old Christian. "Grandma's house" was Shiela and John Christensen's home. From there, everyone went to a few houses down to Shiela's sister's house (Peggy Salyer) to visit with Peggy's son Mark and roommate Al Were. Everyone enjoyed a great Thanksgiving dinner.
Get wells, sympathies & birthdays
