BROOKSVILLE - Tropical Storm Fay persevered on Wednesday and began a second, westward trip across the state late in the afternoon.
The National Hurricane Center expected the storm to take a northward slant, but fickle Fay has proven them wrong before. Hernando County Emergency Management has yet to signal the "all clear" and continues to monitor the storm's progress.
Hernando County remained in the Fay's projected cone Wednesday afternoon; tropical storm winds can extend for up to 115 miles.
If Fay changes direction and heads more in Hernando County's direction, local officials say there could be "wind and tide" issues.
