BROOKSVILLE - The Hernando County Symphony Orchestra will continue performing in Brooksville.
Hernando High School's new principal, Ken Pritz, said officials have worked out scheduling kinks that would have prevented the orchestra's leaders from moving all of their performances from the school's auditorium to Spring Hill this season, as orchestra officials previously announced.
The new concert dates in Brooksville will take place Feb. 14, April 17-18 and either Nov. 29 or Dec. 6, Pritz said.
"I'm glad we could work it out," he said. "We want to build a good reputation with the community. There was a bit of miscommunication there, but hopefully (all of our local residents) can come enjoy the concert."
This would have been the first time in more than 20 years that the orchestra did not hold performances in Brooksville, which upset older concertgoers who have trouble driving at night or did not have transportation.
Now in its 25th season, the volunteer orchestra is made of more than 55 local musicians of all ages, with ticket sales and donations going to support private music lessons and scholarships for young musicians and members.
This season's shows will consist of longstanding favorites and classics from the past 25 years.
