BROOKSVILLE — Shark Theatre at Nature Coast Technical High School will present Jean Anouilh's "Antigone" from Nov. 29 through Dec. 1 in the Black Box Theatre on the Nature Coast Technical HS campus.
Anouilh's classic play is a modernization of the 2,500- year-old original by Sophocles. "Antigone" explores themes of personal faith in conflict with political power. The Shark Theatre production will feature a classical raked platform set and an array of projections, video, and multi-media effects.
Senior Erin Mitchell previously seen in Shark Theatre productions of "A Shayna Maidel," Blood Wedding" and "A Midsummer Night's Dream" plays the role of Antigone.
Alan Venable plays the role of Creon, with Carrie Dano and Joy Herron as the Chorus, Patrick Gonzalez as Haemon, and Nelsie Robinson as Ismene.
Rounding out the 13 member cast are Patrick Regis, MariaAnna Serricchio, Daniela Serricchio, Andrea Morris, Angelica Bertone, Keith Meccia and John Varano.
The crew is led by stage manager Genevieve Pardo. NCTHS Drama Teachers Tim and Lori Erickson direct the production.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for students. The production is recommended for ages 10 and older; no child under 5 will be admitted.
Performances begin at 7 p.m. on Nov. 29 and 30 and at 2 p.m. on Dec. 1.
Latecomers will not be seated.
